[fic] The Captain Does Not Go Down with the Ship
The Captain Does Not Go Down with the Ship
Ikemen Sengoku | Mouri Motonari x Reader | T | 500 words ao3 link (later)
You try your best to stop the Imperial Army from capturing your captain.
A/N: My last entry for @cy-inky's one week challenge! I started with a boom and I'm ending it with a bang! I used two prompts! "Let me guess ... you caused it?" and "Are you an idiot? I am not leaving you here." And it's an action-packed space opera AU! :D Admittedly my star wars and star trek knowledge are poor and shallow, and I did minimal research for this fic, but I hope that it's passable enough lol. I had fun writing this one, and I have to thank Inky for the event 💖 because I've never written so many words in such a short period of time. I was consistently inspired! That's so rare! 🥹
Divider by @/saradika. Hope you enjoy my final entry piece! 🫶
Tumblr media
“Let me guess!” Motonari's yell pierces through your ears, amidst the din of blaster shots and sirens and stomps of the crew and the enemies. “You caused it?”
You're tailing your captain, twisting your way through the narrow path that leads to the escape pods. Once or twice, an automatic door opens to reveal a trooper ready to fire, but you're quicker than them. Times like these you're thankful for your agility and speed.
“I'm sorry—it's the only thing I could think of!”
When an imperial ship appeared crying for your captain’s head and sent an army of troopers to collect it, marching their way into the bridge, you tried to stop them by blowing up the main passageway—a move that only delayed them. But that's enough to get the crew going—Motonari shouting orders to engage and eliminate soldiers as many as they can.
“We gotta get you out of here, Captain!” You herded Motonari to a narrower corridor that led to the escape pods.
“D'ya think I'd leave my men alone while I run away like a coward?”
“That's not it at all! That's not—”
And that's when the imperial ship fired.
A trooper jumps out of their hiding, armed with a blaster rifle. And Motonari, raging at the currently disarrayed state of his ship and crew, increases his pace and meets the weapon head on with his electro-sword.
“Captain!” You catch up and try to knock the trooper out but another appears to your right, wielding a knife that almost slices your arm.
“Don't ya ever think of dyin'!” Motonari yells, and he kicks the trooper down to stab them, piercing the dark blue armor. Lightning sparks across his blade, and the trooper is summarily electrocuted.
“I won't!” Another slash—and you crouch down to glide your feet into a sweep, knocking your opponent down, and smash their helmet with a forceful fist.
You glance at Motonari for a cursory check: no injuries—good. “Let's go, Captain!”
When you reach the pod area, Hiroyoshi is already there. “I've already instructed the others to escape. This is the only one left—hurry!”
And as you and Motonari race over where Hiroyoshi waits, a voice cuts through the noise, freezing you both.
“How humiliating it is to see Pirate-Captain Motonari Mouri abandoning his beloved ship.”
Behind them, several meters away, is the silhouette of Imperial General Kicho.
Motonari vibrates with fury, grits his teeth. Kicho's hand lifts, and a gun points at his head.
There's no time to think: Motonari stands closer to Hiroyoshi, so you push him in that direction, screaming, “Hiroyoshi—take care of the captain!” and then face Kicho again, all your cells ablaze.
You can hear Motonari's shouting—“Are you an idiot?! I'm not leavin' ya here!”—his voice strained by Hiroyoshi's persistence. You ignore it, and instead take a step closer to Kicho, blaster at the ready.
A twitch of his eyebrow is your only warning before he pulls the trigger.

Thanks for the tag, Aqua!
Hey, @seretina I am currently taking ficlet commissions for IkePri, IkeVamp, and IkeSen, and you can find more info about what I offer on my lovely Coffee page! ☕️😄
Do you know of anyone with writing commission open?? I've been away a bit from the fandom and I NEED to throw monay at a Kofi for a fic so do you have any names please 😭😭😭
Hiya!
Unfortunately I do not, but anybody who might be aware is free to interact with this post and give Seretina somewhere to start? I write fics but I tend to be a bit slow unless inspiration (dictated by god and/or Comte) really strikes me. There's also the matter of personal mortification but we won't get into that.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more help 🙏🏼🌸 lovely to see you again though, hope you've been well~

Butterflies || Kichou
Pairing: Kichou x reader
Warnings: A little make-out scene. Nothing too graphic.
Just some angsty writing to get out of my way. I read the epilogue for Kichou’s latest event route. Why MC didn’t take up on the opportunity beats me. So, I thought to reimagine that moment to my liking. A self-indulgent ficlet for me, but you guys are more than welcomed to read it. Enjoy!
The rhythmic heartbeat of both your own and Kichō’s echoed into your ears as you rested against his broad chest. He kept a firm hold on you, keeping you trapped in his arms as he supposedly calmed down. It became apparent that Kichō had a terror of being in warehouses. But, you weren’t about to broach a sensitive subject. Instead, you offered him what he had once offered you—your heartbeat. Strangely enough, Kichō had instead pulled you into his arms feeling more at ease this way. Whatever ailed him earlier seemed to have vanished. His breathing calmed, and the sheen of sweat on his beautiful brow no longer glittered.
The two of you were tucked away in a narrow row of bookshelves, having sought refuge in a book shop in town. The Oda soldiers had come for your rescue, but Kichō wasn’t ready to give you up just yet. The very thought made your heart squeeze. Your fingers involuntarily clutched at his pristine cloak. Kichō adjusted a hand, slender fingers brushing along your back, and rested it between your shoulders. “[Name].” Your stomach fluttered. His tone–so flat–sent your heart beating. Everything about this man had your thoughts a jumbled mess. The more you tried to decipher Kichō’s intentions, the more confused you became. Simply staring at him had you lost in thought. Kichō’s very being was like a painting come to life. Yet, the very hands that held you could also spill blood. You looked up, meeting his yellow-green eyes which glowed in the dim darkness of the desolate warehouse. You slowly gulped becoming lost in his gaze once again. You knew something had changed between you two these last two days. Despite kidnapping you, Kichō had shown a different side of you. He captivated you like never before. You fought against the very idea that began to take root. A horrible realization that you were too afraid to make. The more you stared at him, the clearer it became. You cried. If things had gone as planned. If Mitsuhide had whisked you away in time, perhaps, these feelings would have remained dormant. But now, in Kichō’s arms, you realized the truth. In the pale lighting, Kichō watched your features twist in pain. His thin lips parted at the sight of small beads of tears dotting the corners of your eyes. You placed a hand to his cheek, and pulled yourself up. He could barely react as your lips pressed softly against his. A small, broken moan reverberated from your throat as he inhaled sharply. His hand shot to the back of your head, and you clung onto him as he was a breath of fresh air. The fluttering of your stomach coiled tightly, igniting an ardent flame all over your body. You expected for Kichō to push you back. Instead, you felt him slide down just a bit against the wall he rested against. His other hand trailed along your thigh making its way up towards the curve of your hips. So, your other hand found its way into his midnight blue hair, fingers tangling in silky locks of hair. This was wrong. So very wrong. Kichō was an enemy of the Oda. You were very well aware of that. He was responsible for the attack on Azuchi. He had made it known that he despised Nobunaga. You had been warned many times to stay away from him. Yet, time and time again you had found yourself in his presence. Your previous encounters had been nothing like this. Kichō had gone out of his way to help you during those times. But, this time, things had drastically changed. You were his prisoner. And now… You gasped for air just as Kichō loosened your kimono. He leaned up keeping you seated in his lap. “K-Kichō...san...” His lips sought purchase on your collarbone exposing the patch of skin beneath your kimono. His fingers expertly unraveled your obi letting it pool on your lap. Kichō left wet kisses along your collar, each popping loudly in the room. You shivered in his arms as he pulled your kimono further down, lips brushing along your chest. He paused there, holding you flush against him, the rhythm of your heart beating against your chest. It had been the spark between the two of you. He had offered you his heartbeat. Now, you offered yours.
Kichō looked up at you through a sultry, half-lidded gaze. You noted the bright red hickeys he had left behind in his wake, a mark of his passion.
“If you wish to stop, show me clearly your refusal.”
You could only breathe deeply. You’ve already gone so far. There was no turning back. He had become your poison. You rested your brow against his, submissive to his ministrations.
“I can’t,” you softly replied.
Kichō kissed your jaw. “If you hug a man, sooner or later this will happen,” he breathed into your ear. His low tone sent shivers down your spine as he nibbled on your earlobe.
You wrapped your arms around him. “Kichō-san…”
He hooked a finger under your chin, and brought his lips to yours in a brief kiss. The sounds of the skirmish from earlier were long gone. There was no knowing what had happened to Kichō’s men or the Oda soldiers that had come to your rescue. You were alone with this beautiful man, tucked away in a warehouse full of books, losing your will to carnal desires. It felt much like a dream. You clung to his kimono looking down at the state of your disheveled dress.
“Nobunaga will not stop looking for me. Mitsuhide will pursue me to the ends of the earth on his orders.”
He took your hand in his, spreading your fingers flat against his own. The strength in them felt reassuring. You wanted to be held, to be loved, by those elegant fingers.
“Until then…”
You stopped just barely from his lips once more. You could feel the fluttering in your stomach igniting a new passion. In a heated whisper, you gave him your answer.
“Make me yours.”

Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku Pairing:  Nobunaga x MC (Female) Prompt: “It’s time to make you my wife for life.”
*I know you requested NSFW, but I felt the story flowed better this way. I hope you don’t mind! 💖
Tumblr media
The call of battle forced the lovers into a cruel estrangement, where MC had only received the word that her Devil King’s return to Azuchi Castle was one of triumph. Impatiently pacing the corridors, she exhaled a huge sigh of relief when Hideyoshi delivered the news that Nobunaga’s post-war council meeting was concluded, and that the ruler himself requested an audience with her. Ignoring the mother hen’s pleas to stop running in the halls, MC kept up her hasty pace until she was in front of Nobunaga’s personal room.
“Nobunaga?”
Without knocking, the door creaked as she swung it open to the warlord’s private quarters. Peeking her head into the dimly lit room, MC’s lips curled into a smile when she saw the faint shadow of Nobunaga’s silhouette cast out onto the floor from the balcony of his tenshu.
Upon hearing the shuffling of MC’s footsteps approaching, a grin flashed across the Devil King’s face as he tore his gaze away from the slumbering town beneath them. This battle had proven to be a challenge, even for how well-prepared the Oda forces were. The metallic stench of blood still was trapped in the rim of his nostrils, not failing to allow Nobunaga to forget the vast number of casualties lost in the warfare.
And while victory fell in the cards for his forces this time around, that was not the sole conclusion drawn from the battle. For Nobunaga had learned that nothing in this life was guaranteed, including the very day of tomorrow. The progression of his relationship with MC was something he refused to put off any longer. He knew in his heart what must be done, and she was about to be in store for what he hoped would be one of the greatest surprises of her life.
“It’s nice to see you again,” Nobunaga greeted, encompassing her into a tight hold. “I missed you, my Fireball.”
“Welcome home, Nobunaga,” MC purred, rubbing her head lovingly into his chest. She sighed when Nobunaga’s grip on her tightened, ensuring her that he really was here with her. “I missed you too, but you should know by now that I’ll always be waiting for you to come back to me.”
“No matter the for the duration or reason why our paths may transiently drift apart, my heart will never cease to return home to my lucky charm,” Nobunaga proclaimed, his tone riddled in a sure confidence. Humming her approval at the conviction behind his declaration, MC’s gaze drifted down towards the village below, relaxing into Nobunaga’s body.
The warmth radiating from Nobunaga’s person in addition to the rhythmic beat of his heart pounding through fiercely enough for MC to hear through the fabric of his kimono, left her enveloped in a sense of security leaving her feeling safer than she could ever imagine. However, those serene thoughts were soon interrupted when Nobunaga’s lips suddenly pressed a metallic object against the tip of one of her fingers.
Her ring finger.
“It’s time to make you my wife for life. Marry me, MC,” Nobunaga coaxed, his lips curving upwards as his eyes twinkled in optimism at her expected response.
Without waiting for that response Nobunaga’s teeth slid the ring down the length of MC’s finger. His lips softly kissed the ring, and he caught sight of a tear plopping down onto her finger. Glancing up, Nobunaga admired the beauty of the tears trickling from the brim of her eyes. With the intent of consoling, the pad of his thumb brushed them away, grazing foreheads together to allow his lips to catch the remainder of her tears.
“Yes,” MC whispered, once her composure was regained. “Yes, yes, yes! I’m ready to become your wife, Nobunaga.”
A surge of joy overtook Nobunaga, and he lifted MC into the air to celebrate. Spinning her around, the two fell lost into only the existence of each other. In this moment nothing else mattered except the promise to spend the rest of forever together.
I’ll never allow anything to rob that happiness from us.
Nobunaga swore to the gods before losing himself once again in MC’s smile; the smile he would dedicate protecting until his final days.

I hope you're having a good day (other than your ask thing :( ) Since you're still taking requests, and if I may, what have you envisioned for Mitsuhide and his MC in the future? I know he worries about having a family of his own, but how do you see him reacting if mc tells him she's pregnant? If not that, then anything Mitsuhide (the THIRST!).
Ah thank you so much for waiting on me <3 you’re fab! So I’ve been chewing this one over since I headcanon that MC is on norplant or something similar (and for fictional convenience it’s 100% foolproof) and doesn’t have to worry about babies for the three month time frame of the game.
Warning: This got angsty, buuut I can’t show the *actual* future without spoiling things ;D
***
She was stretched out beside him in the dim lamplight, her features relaxed, a dreamy smile on her flushed face. She looked over at him with a raised brow, and flashed a grin at catching him studying her.
“Something on my face?” She asked, with laughter in her voice.
“That look of contentment is a curious one, little mouse. Pardon my indelicacy, but most women don’t seem quite so unworried after--” He replied, but she cut him off with an airy gesture as she rolled to face him, reaching up to tap the tip of his nose with her fingertip.
“Women in my hometown have a way of handling things.” She said with bemusement, adding “We can’t afford to be careless.”
“That’s interesting on both counts. That sort of knowledge is usually exclusive to courtesans.” He said, and studied her more intently. There wasn’t the faintest trace of a lie in her expression or her eyes.
“Yes, well. I like to have a plan. I suppose we aren’t so different in that regard.”
“That turn of phrase-- you can’t afford to be careless, I don’t think I’ve ever heard it couched quite that way.”
She cleared her throat, and looked slightly flustered. “Am I being interrogated? While naked in your arms? That’s low, even by your standards.”
He reached out to run his fingers through her hair, and down her back gently.
“If I wanted to interrogate you, little mouse, I wouldn’t have bothered with anything so drawn out,” he paused, and stretched laguidly, “as this. Besides, your face is a book that literally cannot close. I shudder to imagine how you’ve survived.”
She blew out a mock huff at him, and ran her hand down his arm affectionately.
“But it is a curious turn of phrase.” He added. “You might worry about what your family would say, about being disowned, about the wars, or even about dying in childbirth. But money? You’d have all the leverage you needed to extort me.”
“It’s an innocent figure of speech, I promise you.”
“You have so many of those, I’m left intensely curious about this hometown of yours.”
“It’s peaceful. But life is expensive, and you have to be cautious about bringing a child into that kind of world. A lot of us have to work for years before we can even think about it, if we ever can.” She answered, with a distance in her eyes that seemed to be looking further than he could measure.
“I see,” he said thoughtfully. “It’s hard to imagine a place where people have to plan as meticulously for the natural course of life as I do for war.”
“I never said it was fair, but whatever kind of future we wish for, we have to deal with things as they are.” She answered, with a note of sadness in her voice.
“What kind of future do you wish for?” He asked, trailing fingertips down her cheek, lost in all of the unanswered questions in her eyes.
“I...” she trailed off, lost in thought. “I suppose I want the same things most people do. Meaningful work, someone who loves me, a family of my own someday. I’d wish for a future where those things weren’t so hard for so many people to have if I could just change things with the wave of my hand.”
“Where on earth do people do meaningless work?” He asked, with amusement at the idea. “Work that you don’t enjoy I can understand, but everyone can see the purpose of their work, or what would compel it.” He added, thoughtfully.
“You’d be surprised.” She said darkly. “But it’s past time for me to turn the tables. What kind of future do you wish for?”
“Hmm.” He sighed thoughtfully looking out the window over her shoulder at the faint glimmer of the stars through the trees. “I don’t wish for things I can’t achieve. A strategic marriage, an end to the wars, and some kind of prosperity for the people in my fief. If I’m being fanciful, I’d like all of my children to survive to adulthood.”
There was a gentle sadness on her face now as she twined her fingers in his in the flickering lamplight. “I hope you can have all of that, truly.” She said, sweetly. “I hope you can marry someone who loves you, just for good measure.”
He laughed quietly at that. “Love has no part in that kind of decision.”
“You never know. It would be hard to spend your life and have children with someone you feel nothing for, wouldn’t it?”
“What a naive idea. If we don’t hate each other, that’s more than enough. Wives live in their own sphere, we lead separate lives.” He replied, adding “you speak as if you have a choice yourself. Your family must be strange indeed to send you wandering off alone and be unconcerned with choosing you a suitable match.”
“I suppose they must be. Even so, I can’t imagine living in such a lonely way. I’d rather not have children at all than have the children of a stranger.” She said, as she pushed his hair out of his eyes.
She wasn’t backing down from her strange ideas, and it left him with a bittersweet feeling in his chest, to think of the kind of life she described, where desire and affection weren’t confined to the floating world of courtesans and mistresses. It was so far beyond the borders of his imagination that it was hard to map onto his known world, hard to think of fitting to the contours of his life.
She snorted in amusement and interrupted his reverie. “You know, this entire conversation does make me wonder what you’d do if I did end up pregnant. Some kind of perfectly staged accidental death, I assume.”
The jest cut him to the quick, even knowing she meant nothing by it, it was like a hot knife in his gut. “Whatever else you might think of me, little mouse, I’d never hurt my own child.” He answered quietly.
“I’m sorry,” she said with genuine regret in her voice. “It was a joke in poor taste. We’re just so different sometimes...” she trailed off, searching for words.
“I’d take care of you both, you know, for the rest of our lives.” He said, his voice very low to hide the emotion in it. He hadn’t even allowed himself to recognize the depth of that impossible wish.
“I wouldn’t want to put you in that position, or myself. I want to be a joy to someone and if I ever have children, I want them to be a joy too, not a liability or a hidden shame.”
He buried his face in the top of her head, inhaling her scent to cover his shaky breaths at the thought of with someone else, with someone else’s children, at the center of someone else’s life.
He had known that he needed to cut off the impossible feelings that she brought out of him, for so many reasons-- to keep her safe, to keep himself focused, and now, she had twisted the knife by laying out with such simple honesty, the terms upon which she intended to live.
He had no right to take that away from her.
“If I could wish for any future, I’d wish for one where you and I weren’t bound to live such different lives.” She said, like a soft prayer into the long night.

Dear fellow writers,
Writing fics is so time consuming and my WIP progress is a mess… I am thinking maybe I should just write out the ideas I get in my head? Like, no proper intro, no proper build up, no closing, just the raw idea. What would that be called? Snippets? Ficlets? Because I have many of them, but I do not think its going to be possible to write fics of all of them?-
I want to make more content for more ikesen guys, so I think maybe this is a good way to put out something for them rather than nothing.
If I really like an idea, I could always revisit and make a more thorough piece with it anyway.

The air is tense between you and Nobunaga. You and he sit across each other in the council hall, the other warlords watching with apprehension in the background. There's no sound except breathing—even the twittering of birds can pierce through the artful walls of this quiet council.
Finally, Nobunaga speaks.
"This cannot continue."
You agree with him, a first in the recently bitingly sharp hours. "Yes, it cannot."
"This is truly a regret, but it must be done."
"So be it. Divorce it is."
There's a collective gasp among the warlords, sans Nobunaga, who's just looking at you steadily.
"M-My lord...!" Hideyoshi said, shocked.
He is ignored. Instead, Nobunaga addresses you. "How shall we settle this?"
You think for a moment, remembering modern family settlements, then say, "We split custody of our children."
"Children?" Ieyasu pipes up grumpily behind you. "Do you think we're chil—ugh, nevermind. I don't know why I'm here." He rises from his seat in a display of being done with everything when a hand shoots up to grab his shoulder and shoves him back down. Ieyasu squawks.
Masamune grins, his hand firmly staying on Ieyasu's shoulder.
"Fine," Nobunaga says. Then surveys his warlords, deliberating. "Who shall remain with me?"
Naturally, to the surprise of no one, Hideyoshi jumps to Nobunaga's side. "I will remain loyal to you, Lord Nobunaga! It pains me to see you end your relationship with—" He casts you a sad glance. You blink back, unimpressed. "But I will always stand by your side, my lord!"
Nobunaga only nods, but that is enough for Hideyoshi.
"My, such a heartfelt confession," Mitsuhide says with that foxlike grin that unfailingly causes Hideyoshi's blood pressure to rise astronomically. "Do you believe that Lord Nobunaga will fall for your unending fidelity?"
"Mitsuhide, you—"
"Mitsuhide," pronounces Nobunaga, and the man in question straightens, which still indicates the level of respect he has to his lord. "I take it that you will stay with her."
When Mitsuhide sidles up to you, he's smirking with such glee that Hideyoshi calls him out on it.
"You traitor! You snake! You—" and then Hideyoshi unleashes crunchy words that blight Mitsuhide's reputation and lineage. Mitsuhide just relishes that calculated entertainment.
Of course, where Hideyoshi goes, so does Mitsunari, who spares you an apologetic look and a bow before going to Nobunaga's side. Ieyasu, at first, reluctantly trots in your direction, but one word from Nobunaga and he pivots grudgingly, standing on the other side, far from Mitsunari, grumbling all the while.
Ranmaru, by virtue of him being Nobunaga's page, is stuck standing between Hideyoshi and Mitsunari.
"Five against two? You're outnumbered," Masamune tells you and Mitsuhide, his eye gleaming. Then he takes a step towards you. "The lass knows how to keep things exciting. Sorry, Lord Nobunaga, but I'm with them."
Hideyoshi is now vibrating in what seems to be stress.
"Five against three?" Keiji chimes in, that sunny grin ever-present. "Make that four!"
"Why does this sound like we're teaming up for a fight," Ieyasu despairs.
"It's not evenly split," Mitsunari comments. Ieyasu casts him a baleful look.
"Then I'll make it even," a voice cuts in. Everyone looks around to find Kicho next to you. He's giving Nobunaga an elegantly defiant frown, but the rest are stunned and aghast to see him.
Then the Azuchi warlords (except Nobunaga) draw their swords and point them at him.
"Kicho!" Hideyoshi snarls, Ichigo Hitofuri glinting under the menacing light. "How the hell did you get here?!"
"I was once a vassal of Nobunaga," Kicho responds calmly. Then he turns to you, his gaze softening. "So I'm here to even the odds."
Everybody screams their dissent, even the ones under your custody.
Finally, Ieyasu snaps. "Why are you even divorcing?!" he shouts over all the barking. "What happened between you two?"
At the question, you look away guiltily. Nobunaga zeroes in on that action like a hawk.
"I have found," he begins with great severity and gravitas, and the rest of the warlords pause to listen to him, "that the number of konpeito in my stash has decreased by three. I did not eat them."
The council hall stills. Everybody lies frozen facing Nobunaga and his grave countenance. For a few seconds, it seems as if time has stopped.
And then everything breaks into chaos.
"'By three'?" you cry, indignant, "I only ate two—and I already said sorry but you weren't listening!"
"My lord—where did you get that stash?! Is that different from the ones I'm keeping from you?!"
"Hideyoshi, was it you who ate the other konpeito?"
"What—"
"My, my, Hideyoshi. Who's the traitor now?"
"Shut up, you—! Lord Nobunaga, it wasn't me who ate that one konpeito! I swear I'll find the culprit for you, my lord! But you have to give me that stash for safekeeping—"
"Hey, Kicho—where are you taking the lass—"
"Ugh," Ieyasu says amidst the din, "I'm done. I'm so done with all of you."
And then he leaves the hall, away from all the crazy people, for peace of his mind, never looking back.
The end.

Walk Away
Tumblr media
thank u for requesting anon! the first req was also mitsuhide + prompt 2 so i just went with prompt 15 for yours! i hope u dont mind,,,
damn i thought i already posted this hours ago,,,
Tumblr media
“Why can’t you just walk away?”
It was truly a mystery how she still clings to this man who made it clear that he was not the man she thinks he is. This was the chance to break away from his watch. Freedom.
“I wanted to know,” she whispered as she held on to his sleeve like a little child, “what are we, Mitsuhide?”
At first, they were teacher and student. Then lord and assistant. Two people who exchanged vital secrets. Fake lovers. Fake husband and wife. …Fake?
Are those feelings really fake?
“I am already allowing you to walk away. I am not to stay by your side any longer, nor will you see me anymore. Our association ends here.” He tried to break away from her grip but he stopped himself, in fear that perhaps one more look at her could make him lose his resolve. It was already too much to push her away like this. “Let me go, little mouse.”
“…You can’t just do that.” Her fingers curled on his sleeve as she bit her lip. The memory of that chaste kiss as husband and wife came to mind. That was not a dream, nor was it an act. “Mitsuhide, I—”
“Don’t say it.” He turned to her. Ah, the regret. Now he may find it difficult to lie in front of those eyes. “Please don’t say it.”
What am I to do when I hear those words from your lips? Spare me my sanity.
“Don’t you dare disregard my feelings.”
She took a brave step forward, cupping his face with both her hands as she forced his eyes to look on hers. His gaze trembled at the face of her passionate ones. “I love you.”
You don’t. Please don’t. This isn’t right—
“I’m not asking you to love me back. But I want you to know.” She said. “I’ll always be your ally. I’m always with you.”
Silence stretched on. Her warmth slowly seeped through his skin. And when she reluctantly removed her hands, everything happened so fast.
Mitsuhide exhaled in resignation. On his next breath, she was already in his arms, inhibitions released. Everything be damned.
“Why aren’t you walking away..?” He murmured in her ear like a plea, yet his arms tightened at every second he held her. “I am not the man for you.”
She returned the embrace with the same yearning as his. “You don’t know that… so you can’t tell me you’re not the man for me.”
“Even if you weren’t, let me stay here with you.”
“Hah…” It was a curiosity as to how her every word made him come undone. She really was too good for him. “How can you do this to me?”
In their stillness, there was nothing but two hearts finally meeting each other.

Audacious || Mitsuhide Akechi
Somehow in my exhaustion, I found the inspiration to continue this one-shot. I had kind of given up on this ficlet because my ideas were not working. Thankfully, I didn’t delete this and I managed to save it! A little time and patience works a long way. I hope you guys enjoy it!
You didn’t consider yourself bold or daring, and yet you found yourself often doing things that surprised people. You would hear others describe you as an initiative person, a fearless leader, and always on the move. Truth be told, you hated waiting. You detested the thought of not knowing what to expect and wondering how things would unfold. You liked to take charge simply because you liked being in control of yourself and your environment. However, none of that was happening, and you found yourself playing a peddler’s wife far away from Azuchi in a rural town with Mitsuhide Akechi.
“Why couldn’t I be your sister?” You ask for the tenth time.
And for the tenth time, Mitsuhide replied, “Lord Nobunaga instructed I keep a close eye on you.”
“As your wife?” You questioned, eyes narrowing suspiciously.
“This man we’re seeing has a penchant for young women. If you’d like to join his harem of concubines, by all means, go right ahead. I’ll be certain to give my darling sister my full blessings.”
“As long as he can maintain me, I do not ask for much,” you reply, hefting a weighted pack along your back.
Mitsuhide smirked. “Unsatisfied by your living arrangements in Azuchi?”
You waved him off. “I merely jest. I could never betray Nobunaga despite his penchant for me. If I am of use to him, then so be it. I will be the best spy in all of Azuchi!”
You gave Mitsuhide a thumbs up as you winked and stuck your tongue out. He grinned finding not only your response, but your posture silly. Still, there was a stir in his chest. His gaze softened as you turned your back to him. You were dressed in shabby clothes, your hair pulled into a bun and secured with a periwinkle cloth. You had traded your zōri for simple straw waraji which threatened to rip at any given moment. Mitsuhide had expected to hear you complain at the choice of outfit he had picked for you. Instead, you nagged at him for making you his pretend wife. You were positively adorable as you pouted at him each and every time you asked why he had made you his wife.
“Are you coming?” You asked, shooting him another annoyed pout.
He grinned. “I do hope you know the way.”
“To the daimyo’s house? Easy. It’s the richest house in town.”
Mitsuhide nodded. “I see. Tell me, little seamstress, which house would that be?”
You paused glancing around at your surroundings. Every dwelling and establishment seemed to be made out of the same building materials. You could try narrowing it down, but finding the answer would still prove a bit difficult seeing as it was your first time in town. You would need to divulge some information first from the townsfolk, and hopefully derive some leads to the lord’s home.
“It’s gotta be one of these,” You answered. “If we ask nicely, someone is bound to tell us.”
Mitsuhide chuckled. “If only people were as honest as you are, [Name].”
“A little kindness goes a long way. You should try it sometime, Mitsuhide.”
“It often backfires. There’s no harm in being ruthless either.”
You purse your lips as you glanced up in thought. “I can’t see myself being like that.”
And, I wouldn’t want you to be, [Name], Mitsuhide thought, as the smile gracing his lips vanished.
He wished to keep her safe, preserving that radiant smile of hers at all times, and away from everything that could harm her. Truth be told, Mitsuhide did not want [Name] involved in his business at all. The circumstances did not turn out that way, and he found himself bringing the chatelaine along. He hated the fact that he would expose her to possible danger, but he reminded himself that he would be with her every step of the way watching closely. Mitsuhide walked up to [Name] placing his hands on her shoulders. She tensed under his touch glancing up to meet his gaze with a puzzled expression on her face. Her delicate eyebrows arched and her lips parted ever so slightly. His fingers curled gripping her shoulders a tad tighter. Part of him didn’t want to let go, and yet he pushed her out into the busy street as he remained in the shadows of the alley they had secluded themselves in.
“Mitsuhide?” [Name] called.
“Enough chit-chat. Time to get to work,” he stated.
A chill ran down your spine as a sudden realization dawned on you. Mitsuhide was still dressed in his usual attire. You were not. Surely, this man wouldn’t leave you to your own devices...right? You were afraid to ask, but you needed to hear the answer come from him.
“What about you?”
He smiled devilishly, his golden eyes seemingly glowing with delight. Mitsuhide took a step back and you felt your heart stop. No, he was not going to—!
“Do not fret, my little mouse. I shall be watching.”
And as if summoned by some magical force, a wave of people flooded the street. He was gone in a flash lost to the darkness that had enveloped him. You looked around taking note of the stalls and businesses open for the day. You felt a shove from behind causing you to stumble forward a bit. You heard a mumbled apology as the person moved around you. You clutched at your fake pack feeling lost in this crowd.
Gather information, you thought jolting the reminder in your head. You scowled remembering Mitsuhide’s visage. That ass is gonna pay for this!
You spent your morning going from place to place within town hearing various conversations. From the quality of products coming in, to food reviews, and even outside skirmishes that had nothing to do with the task at hand, you listened to everything with intent. Yet, nothing stood out to you. Why Mitsuhide had brought you along was beyond your imagination. You plopped down on a bench outside a teahouse as you set your pack down, and felt the immediate relief across your back.
“Here you are.”
A cheerful, feminine voice spoke out from beside you. You glanced at the young woman who set a plate of dumplings and a steaming cup of tea beside you.
“I haven’t ordered yet—”
“Compliments of our lord.”
She walked away leaving you puzzled by her words. You looked inside the tea house meeting the gaze of an older man. He looked to be middle aged with graying hair, and rugged looks. He shot you a smile which made your stomach knot. Something about this man sent shivers down your spine. You looked away feeling dread consume you. Suddenly, you no longer felt thirsty as your instinct told you to leave. You grabbed your things and started down the road.
Please, please, please, you chanted internally, hoping not to hear footsteps following you.
Amidst the crunching of gravel, your stomach knotted with fright. You heard a few men snicker behind you which only made you pick up your pace. Unfortunately for you, the men quickly had you surrounded. You stumbled back only to feel the sharp press of steel against your back. You eased away from the pointed edge of the man’s sword as you curled in your arms to protect yourself.
“I’m sorry. There seems to be some misunderstanding,” you began nervously.
“None whatsoever,” the lord from the teahouse spoke. “You’re a pretty new face.”
Oh, dear god, no. It’s the guy Mitsuhide told me about, you realized.
“I respect your rejection of my invite at the teahouse. However, every person that does business in my territory needs to pay a fee.”
You blinked. “A fee?”
“Oh, yes. How else am I supposed to collect tax? These lands don’t support themselves,” the lord continued, waving his arm to indicate their surroundings figuratively.
Your posture eased as you arched an eyebrow. “Wait a sec. We’re still in Nobunaga-sama’s province. From my understanding, there shouldn’t be any tax collection in place at all. Everyone is free to do commerce without having to pay.”
The lord’s sleazy grin vanished, replaced with an angry scowl as his face turned red and blotchy. “To hell with that demon’s laws! These are still my lands! I rule them how I want, and there’s not a thing anyone can do about it!”
You balled your fists feeling a surge of indignation. “How can you say that!? You’re robbing your people of their hard labor profiting from them to keep your territory afloat? That money you take from them should be going back to your people!”
“Do you not think that’s what I do?!”
“No!” You shouted. “You don’t! You use it to pilfer from your own domain and spend it on lavishes and trying to bed any woman that comes your way! And now that I look at it—” Your eyes took in the sight of the men that accompanied the lord. They were not samurai at all. You knew by their looks alone they were from a different class. “You used that money to hire ronin, didn’t you?”
“What if I did? I need an army!” The lord shouted as he took an angry step towards you.
You froze. “An army?” You questioned.
“Hah! I shouldn’t have to explain myself to a common woman. You either pay or I will take you on the spot!”
You gripped your pack, ready to start swinging it as a weapon if you needed to. Sure, you were outnumbered six to one, but you sure weren’t not going to go down without a fight. At the lord’s indication, the men brandished their swords against you. Each of them grinned sickeningly at you as their master approached closer. You had no choice, but to fight back. You hated to think this would be the last time you’d live. The thought was close to forming, however, you lamented not seeing him for the last time.
Mitsuhide…!
A thunderous crack echoed throughout the area. A split second later, one of the ronin fell on the ground. Time stood still as everyone stopped moving. You were certain all of you were staring at the fallen ronin dead from a shot to the forehead. Your stomach sank and as reality finally sunk, the men around you screamed in terror. You looked past them to see the smoking barrel of Mitsuhide’s rifle pointed back at them. You didn’t think twice. You bolted from the group crossing the open space as fast as possible.
Your straw sandals threatened to rip making it hard to keep your footing. Yet, you willed them to hold. You ended up stumbling past Mitsuhide as you came to a sloppy stop. Your knees buckled as you fell hard unto the ground.
“You! Who are you!?” You heard the lord scream.
“Who I am is the least of your worries,” Mitsuhide answered, keeping his rifle trained on the man. “Paying you a personal visit proved to be unnecessary, after all.”
“What?”
“I have you to thank, [Name]. I knew you’d prove to be most useful,” Mitsuhide continued.
“You mean… You knew this would happen?” You asked breathlessly.
Mitsuhide smirked. “Truth be told, I had already been investigating this man months prior. I only needed to confirm a few suspicions.”
You got back on your feet as the truth of his words hit you full force. “So then, Mitsuhide… You!”
“We’ll settle it later, [Name]. This matter needs to be resolved first.”
“Hmph!” You crossed your arms, pouting once again as you turned away from him. The nerve of this man! He blatantly used you! He obviously never needed your help.
He made me his bait! You internally screamed.
“What are you lot waiting for!? Get him! Get him! And bring me that woman while you’re at it!” The lord shouted.
“I wouldn’t move if I were you,” Mitsuhide advised.
“Why not?”
Mitsuhide raised a hand and at his command, his army emerge from the shadows of the forest. The lord and his men were completely surrounded with more than a dozen rifles pointed at them. The ronin quickly dropped their swords and fell to their knees begging for their lives. Realizing the fight was over, the lord look utterly defeated.
“Who are you?” He asked again, his voice broken.
“A message from Lord Nobunaga: your lands shall be divided and your people are now his. You, on the other hand, shall be imprisoned for your crimes.”
The lord paled. “My crimes?”
“My lovely wife shall leave no account unsaid. Afterall, you confessed everything to her.”
“That woman is your wife?!”
You stood quietly as your eyes met the now disgraced lord. A moment ago, he was flaunting his authority. Now, he looked sad and pathetic. You felt nothing. No longer needing your disguise, you untied the bandana keeping your hair secured. It fell in waves of locks as it settled along your back. You ran your fingers through your tresses combing out the knots as the lord and his men were tied up and led away.
Mitsuhide turned to you, a pleased smile on his lips. “You did well.”
You scoffed. “I was almost attacked by him and you killed a man right behind me. How do you think I feel right now?”
“Were you scared?”
“That’s not it!” You shouted, your nails digging into your palms as you balled your fists. However, your anger quickly dissipated and you backed down. “Forget it. I want to go home.”
You looked away from Mitsuhide staring at a patch of grass. You heard him approach, but you never imagined that he would pull you into his arms. You didn’t imagine feeling a slender finger hook your chin as your eyes met his. His long lashes caught the light of the setting sun making eyes shine brightly. You were at a loss for words as you gently braced yourself against his chest.
“Thank you, [Name].”
You felt a prickle in your eyes and you quickly averted your eyes one more time choosing to bury your face in his kimono. He reeked of gunpowder, as usual, but it was comforting. Mitsuhide was here with you.
“You took too long,” you whimpered quietly as you tried your best to keep from crying.
He patted your head as he held you tightly against him. “I’m sorry.”
You felt your heart squeeze upon hearing his soft voice. Your arms encircled him as you returned his embrace. You knew everything would be okay. Your sense of security was back, and you couldn’t be happier than to be in Mitsuhide’s embrace. The only thing you lamented now was that the charade was over. You were back to being the chatelaine of Azuchi castle and a simple seamstress.
A few days later, you were out strolling the market enjoying a well deserved rest from your mission. Mitsuhide had revealed the ex-lord’s plot to secretly amass an army to rise against Nobunaga’s rule. He had been a minor daimyo who had been defeated some years ago by Nobunaga. His army had been dismantled, and the ex-daimyo was left to supervise his domain. However, his greed knew no bounds.
You hated that Mitsuhide used you to expose the ex-lord’s weakness for women just to draw him out. However, he continued to praise your bravery for holding out long enough to get the man to spill his secrets. Since your return to Azuchi, you hadn’t seen Mitsuhide at all. His vassals informed you that Mitsuhide seldom returned home in the coming days since you both returned. All you knew was that he was busy with his interrogations and cleaning up the aftermath of the incident. You would often look in the direction of the holding cells, but you dared not approach the place. Hideyoshi was liable to lock you in your room. Plus, you didn’t wish to disturb Mitsuhide.
You could only think back at your last interaction with him as he held you against him. A part of you didn’t wish to let go, but you knew it wouldn’t last forever. Mitsuhide offered to give you a piggyback ride back into town, but you turned him down as you felt your cheeks burn in embarrassment. Still, he took your hand in his as he led you back. Everything else had become a blur of memories.
As you walked down the road, you glanced up to see Mitsuhide weave his way through a small crowd. You couldn’t believe it. He was back! You raced over to him waving a hand in the air to get his attention.
“Mitsuhide!”
He shot you a cool smile seeing you beam so brightly. There was an itch in him to reach over and pinch your cheeks. However, your relieved expression warmed him, and he greeted you the only way he knew how.
“My, I’ve never received such an enthusiastic greeting. You look like a puppy who’s seen its master after a long time.”
You pouted. “Oh, you! Can’t you be happy we’re finally seeing each other again?”
Mitsuhide’s eyes widened in mock shock. He placed a hand against his chest feigning his surprise. “[Name], you’ve missed me that much?”
You faltered. “Well, I… Uh…”
A slick smile spread across his lips. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
“It’s not like that! It’s, um…”
He chuckled seeing your cheeks flush again. Mitsuhide sighed, grabbing his chin in thought.
“What to do? I must make my absence up to you. Unfortunately, I don’t have much time today. I was on my way back to the castle.”
You quickly latched onto his arm. Not only was Mitsuhide surprised, but you were, as well. You hated not knowing anything, but you were content to not know, either. You accepted that fact when it came to Mitsuhide. As long as he was safe and okay, nothing else mattered. Yet, you felt incomplete.
“Call me selfish, but…” you began quietly not daring to meet his gaze. “I don’t want to let you go.”
“I have yet to pay you for your help,” he said, drawing you from your thoughts.
You looked up at him. “Huh?”
“Whatever you want, I will give it to you,” Mitsuhide promised. “So, tell me.”
Whatever I want…?
Your hold on him tightened. There was no need to think about it. You were sure of yourself this time. Even if Mitsuhide pushed you away, you knew this was something you had to do. You didn’t want to define it by a mere word, but rather with an action.
You led Mitsuhide into a nearby alley taking refuge behind a stack of rice barrels. You didn’t care who saw as you were determined to make this moment a reality. You clutched Mitsuhide’s scarf in your hands and pulled him towards you with all your might. He braced himself against the wall as his palms came to rest on either side of your head. At the same time, you rose on your tippy toes meeting Mitsuhide halfway as you planted a kiss upon his lips. Your eyes were closed as his widened with genuine shock this time.
Those seconds felt eternal, but you couldn’t keep supporting yourself on the balls of your feet. You pulled away with a sloppy pop resting back on your feet. You still held onto his scarf as you gazed up at him with half-lidded eyes. You saw him swallow. You were both clearly out of breath panting for air.
Mitsuhide placed a hand against your flushed cheek as he leaned down. His forehead pressed against yours and he laughed softly.
“You silly girl.”
You purse your lips. “Give me some credit here. I’ve never done that before.”
“It wasn’t bad for your first time,” Mitsuhide said as he drew back.
“You don’t need to sugarcoat it,” you muttered. “And, you don’t need to pay me for anything, either. I’m content with just this.”
“Hmm, I think not.”
You shot him a questioning expression. “Hm?”
Mitsuhide held your chin as he pressed his other hand against the wall behind you. “It looks like I have time to spare, my dear [Name]. I can show you much more than just a simple kiss.”
You shyly averted your gaze as you moved his hand from your chin. Yet, Mitsuhide managed to lace his fingers with yours as he continued to keep a hold on you.
“We don’t have to…”
He leaned in again whispering hotly in your ear. “Unless, you don’t want to?”
Your heart nearly burst out of your chest as his low tone of voice sent chills down your spine. You ignited the flame and now Mitsuhide was faning them. Just a moment ago, you were in control and now he had taken it back. Truth be told, you liked it. His daring proposal excited you, and you were curious to see where it led. You could only take this chance for who knew when the next opportunity would arise.
You pushed off the wall as you never let go of his hand. Nothing needed to be said. Your eyes conveyed everything to him. Mitsuhide led you out of the alley and back out into the busy market street. His work could wait. The two of you had a long afternoon ahead. Everything would be okay. You and Mitsuhide were together, and you hoped it would remain so.

Hello Love! Can I please request fluff prompt 8, with Ikesen Shingen? Thank you~ 💕
“I’ll never let anyone steal your smile.”
“I’m afraid we’re sold out of stock for the day,” the vendor of the confectionery apologized, his tone laced with sincerity when he saw MC’s shoulders slouch in defeat.
“Thank you anyway,” she responded, before taking her leave of the shop.
MC quickly floundered out of the store, and headed towards the nearby tavern where she slinked into one of the available seats. Shingen was returning home today after a long week of travel, and MC wanted to welcome him back with an assortment of his favorite sweets. Unfortunately, her vision was foiled when she was informed that the confectionery had already sold out of the last of their treats. Racking her brain for another idea, MC tried to brainstorm, when she abruptly jumped at the sudden hand on her shoulder.
“Is everything alright, my goddess?”
“Shingen!” MC cheered, and spun around when she recognized the familiar voice. “You’re back early! And that’s wonderful, since I missed you so much!”
Although she was excited to see Shingen, a part of MC couldn’t help but feel guilty when she had nothing to offer him as a welcome home gift. Feigning a big smile anyway to not let Shingen pick up on the fact that anything was wrong, she was startled when he began to frown and firmly clasped the sides of her arms.
“Princess? I pray you indulge me in the matters that caused the disappearance of your angelic smile,” Shingen questioned. His large hand delicately stroked the side of her face, and his eyes gazed at her filled with concern.
“Nothing happened, but I feel bad for being a horrible partner! You’re always so thoughtful and considerate of me, and I wanted to return the favor to you for once. I went to go buy some of your favorite sweets, but the vendor was sold out by the time I made it there,” MC confessed.
She nervously glanced up at Shingen, and began to chew on the bottom of her lip when she saw the grin he had been previously wearing disappear.
“A horrible partner? How could you ever make such a twisted accusation about yourself? For don’t you see--I’m the one the gods blessed when they sent their most precious angel down to earth,” Shingen assured.
He reached into the small satchel that was thrown over his shoulder, and handed MC a large box. “Open it up,” he suggested, winking at her in encouragement.
A sweet aroma arose from the box, and MC smiled when she removed the cover to find a tray covered with mouth-watering looking treats.
How did Shingen always manage to be one step ahead of her?
“Given how gracious you are by constantly seeking ways to making me happy, I used my sources to dig around and I was able to calculate out your agenda,” the warlord boasted. “I arranged for Yukimura to ensure there were enough sweets for the both of us to enjoy together. He even promised to not monitor me today, since it’s been the two of us were last united.”
“Thank you, Shingen,” MC praised, smiling at his usual kindness and taking a big bite of the treat.
“There’s that smile I love seeing,” Shingen admired. “Never stop smiling, MC. Know I always vow, that I’ll never let anyone steal your smile.”
MC’s cheeks flushed when Shingen reached his hand across the table to rest his hand on top of her free one.
“It’s good to be home,” Shingen muttered, while watching his love nibble away at the sweets. “It’s good to be home.”
